I don’t think that many teens/young adults of any country now is really interested in such books, because it’s not fantasy and magic. But maybe this trilogy will be translated, I don’t know. So it’s a little bit unfair for english readers of my blog, but I promised to myself to write review for every book I’m reading now. As far as I know only handful of Krapivin’s book were translated. I know that my blog is for english-speaking (and reading) audience and I also know that Islands and Captains was never translated in english. It’s not too heavy or depressing reading, I think it’s even liberating! I’ve re-read this pretty thick book for a couple of days! The second part was a little bit too filled with descriptions, but it’s because Krapivin really loved Sevastopol and ancient ruins of Chersonesus! Books: import, wholesale and retail trade, export Acceptance of online and individual orders for books Sale of stationery, brain games and souvenirs. They connected not only by blood, but with mysterious manuscript about first russian сircumnavigation by Krusenstern’s ship named Hope, with vintage chronometer and with very old typewriter. It’s not exactly the maritime book, because it’s about school boys from three generations - about Tolik from 40s’ post-war syberian town, about Gai who was vacationing in 60s’ seaside city of Sevastopol and about 80s’ rich and bully boy Egor. First book is Сhronometer (Saint Helena’s Island), the second is Grenade (Captain Gai’s Island) and the third is Heirs (Path in the archipelago). ![]() One of them is the trilogy named Islands and Captains. It’s not only science fiction or children books, he wrote great amount stories about real lives of soviet and russian schoolkids. Unfortunately, Krapivin died last year, but he leave more than 200 books after himself. Vladislav Krapivin is one of my favorite authors and his books always was salvation and solace for me.
